Romero Month at the GTU

(Apr. 7th Monday) Oscar Romero Commemoration {ORC} Opening Ceremony: 6:00-6:30 PM FST Chapel. Please join the GTU community in opening prayers and celebration for upcoming events honoring the life and struggle of Bishop Romero and peoples of Latin American Descent.

(Apr. 9th Wednesday) {ORC} Film & Discussion Romero: 6:30-9:00 PM PSR 6 The Oscar Romero Commemoration begins with a discussion around the film Romero.

(April 10th Thursday) Poverty Truth Commission: 5:30-8:45 PM MUDD 100 Individuals from around the Bay Area will testify on violations of their economic human rights that are and have been a direct result of living in poverty in the United States.

(April 17th Thursday) {ORC} Romero Panel: 12:00-2:00 PM Bade Museum The Romero Panel will be discussing multidimensional issues of justice for peoples of Latin American Descent in the areas of: El Salvador, Border Issues, Immigrant Rights and Workers Justice.

(April 17th Thursday) {ORC} Romero Service and Celebration: 4:30-7:00 PM FST Chapel Please join us in a service dedicated to the memory and continuing struggle of Bishop Oscar Romero and the many lives he has touched. The service will be followed by music and food on the rooftop of FST.

(April 24th Thursday) {ORC} El Paso/Juarez Border Immersion Presentation: 12:45-2:00 PM Holbrook Conference Room. The students, staff and faculty who participated in the Winter Intercession trip to the Border will be giving a presentation.

(April 25th Friday) {ORC} Salsa Dance Fiesta El Salvadoran Fundraiser: 7:00-11:30 PM MUDD 100 This fiesta comes complete with professional salsa instructors, hopping dj’s and tasty eats and drinks! There is a sliding fee of $10-20, all proceeds go to SHARE Foundation: Building a New El Salvador Today. No one will be turned away.

(April 29th Tuesday) {ORC} Film & Discussion Bordertown: 6:30-9:00 PM MUDD 100 Individuals from the PSR El Paso/Juarez will be presenting the film Bordertown.
